ABOUT COURSE

9 Apr - 15 Apr 2019

Age: 16+

Location: Mallorca

The island of Mallorca has established itself as one of Europe’s premier rock climbing and sport climbing destinations. The type and style of rock climbing found at Mallorca has something for everyone from slabby walls, evil overhangs, juggy tuffas, roofs, and cracks.

The majority of the rock climbing on the island is single pitch, with plenty of routes at every grade. A perfect combination of challenging yourself while having fun!

In addition to climbing, Mallorca has scenic hiking trails throughout the Tramuntana mountains, gorgeous blue flag beaches, idyllic stone villages, and Palma a city with old world charm full of culture, food, and shopping.

SAMPLE ITINERARY

DAY 1

Pickup from the airport and icebreaker.
  • Pickup from the airport in Palma de Mallorca at a time that accommodates everyone’s arrival.
  • Drop off at camp with some downtime to unpack and relax.
  • Evening icebreaker and group dinner to socialize and meet the course leaders and to go over the general plan.
  • This is a great time to share goals and hopeful outcomes for the week.

DAY 2

Let it begin! The first day of climbing.
  • LET IT BEGIN! We head out after breakfast to Ca’s Catala just outside of Palma for our first day of climbing. This location will give us an opportunity to evaluate your safety procedures, belaying and lead climbing ability.
  • Once we Identify that you are up to par with the safety skills and techniques, then it’s time to CLIMB!
  • Although the climbs are not as long as ones we will do later in the week, Ca’s Catala has a great range of difficulty from 4’s – 7a’s.

DAY 3

Day 2 of climbing here we go!
  • Today we will head out to the Bunyola area where there is literally hundreds sport of climbs!
  • We will start the day at Sa Gubia with stunning cliff faces in every direction and climbs that are 25-40 meters long.
  • There is a great variety of difficulty so everyone can work at their own pace and level.

DAY 4

Day 3 of climbing.
  • Now things are heating up! Kicking things into a higher gear, we set off to conquer some of the climbs on the north side of the island in one of my favorite spots, Port de Soller!
  • Here you will see that there are no 4’s and very few 5’s so this is a good day for the beginners to step out of their comfort zone and project some harder climbs on the top rope.
  • The location is stunning because the anchors for most of the climbs face out towards the open sea, the exposure is truly breathtaking!

DAYS 5

Day 4 of climbing.
  • We are past halfway, oh NOOOOOO! Don’t worry we’ll kill it today!
  • We head off to Alaro for some more fun in the sun!
  • The crag dominates the horizon as we approach and gives a great variety of difficulty in one of the most renowned climbing areas on the island.

DAY 6

Day 6 of climbing. We want to know what you think!
  • After four days of climbing on the island paradise of Mallorca we want to know if there is anything that you would like to revisit, any projects unfinished or any climbs that tempted you but you didn’t get the chance to try.
  • We want to make that happen for you, so let’s talk about it!
  • Plan for day five will be discussed at dinner the evening before!

DAY 7

We head to the airport.
  • The end is never the end, just the beginning of something else!
  • We pack up, and we head to the airport…
  • Until next time my fellow adventurers, stay safe, get stronger and be happy!
